Sports Injuries - Heal Them Quickly

Any kind of injury can cause tissue damage. Blood vessels rupture and blood spreads into surrounding tissues causing inflammation and swelling. Pressure build-up then slows muscle, nerve and other tissue recovery. So, the most important thing to do for any injury is STOP THE BLEEDING! Blood in the tissues can do a lot of damage.

Is Ice Effective?

Unfortunately, all that's available for emergency treatment of sports injuries is ice, ethyl chloride spray or other coolants. None of these stop the bleeding. The cooling effect of the ice or spray may numb the pain a little, but it does nothing to heal the injury. In fact, the application of ice can slow recovery by causing further tissue damage. Researchers have shown that ice can cause inflammation and swelling in the deeper tissues which significantly slows recovery. [1]

As if that wasn't bad enough, there also seems to be little agreement among experts about how long ice should be applied.[2]

Ice and coolant sprays do not stop bleeding either from the skin, the nose or from deeper tissues. If they don't stop the bleeding that means that healing and recovery will be slow. The logical conclusion is that they shouldn't be used. What is needed is something that can stop the bleeding. The sooner the deep and surface bleeding stops, the sooner swelling is reduced and blood supply returns to the damaged tissue. Rapid recovery is the usual outcome.

Is There a Safe Natural Healing Agent For Sports Injuries?

As it turns out the use of wheatgrass appears to be very effective in treating sports injuries including pulled hamstrings, sprained ankles, muscle cramps, blisters, abrasions, wounds, bruises, corks as well as a range of other conditions. Dr Chris Reynolds, who is a practicing doctor, has used an extract of wheatgrass to treat numerous sports and other injuries since 1995. In his considerable experience, it is without doubt a powerful haemostatic agent - in other words, it stops bleeding quickly. Bleeding noses, open wounds, bruises, sprained ankles, cuts, scratches, abrasions and deep tissue injuries such as corked, torn or pulled muscles usually respond very quickly to wheatgrass.

Wheatgrass is an amazing healing agent, and soft tissue injury is just one of the conditions it works for.

How Does Wheatgrass Work?

Research is still being done on wheatgrass to determine how it works and to gain a better idea of its health benefits. When applied to sports injuries, wheatgrass appears to activate Growth Factors. These are small molecules that act as cell messengers to stimulate production by DNA of the numerous proteins required for the healing process. The immune system response, wound healing and the stopping bleeding and absorption of blood clot are just a few of the functions vital to the maintenance and repair of damaged tissues mediated by Growth Factors.

Dr Reynolds haa researched the literature extensively since 1995 and made thousands of clinical observations which strongly suggest that wheatgrass contains potent Growth Factor Activators. Essentially they "kick start" and thereby facilitate the natural healing process resulting in faster healing.

The top priority in treating sports and other traumatic injuries is to stop the bleeding as quickly as possible.
